Let Me Rise Phoenix-Like From The Ashes

Procrastination is the highest cry
For the thought, I want to fly
But
Aimlessly I glide
Through this journey of life
Causing myself internal strife
Failing to implement
My heart’s desire
Knowing full well my plight
Self-sabotaging
My dreams
My desires
With my own bare hands
Addicted to old habits.
That no longer serve me.
That stop me from taking flight.
It is too hard to let go of the branch
Too comfortable
I am
In the stagnating pond.
But flourish, I must!
I am bright
I know how to fix my plight
How to get out of this strife.
Self-sabotaging, to my heart’s delight
And then, when I take that bright spark
With Pomodoro’s delight
Twenty minutes of action
Times four
I wonder why?
Why did I procrastinate to my heart’s desire?
Foolish, I am
Even stupid
I am.
I know all the reasons why and why not
Yet, old habits die hard
But they must die for me to fly
With sheer grit, I decide
Twenty minutes is all you need
To create the burning desire
Slowly creating a new habit
Breaking the old
Burning flames arise
Incinerating the old
I rise phoenix-like
I pray this…
