Looking for a more helpful view
Where the remnants of other years
No longer pull out the tears
Of trauma baked in fear
Where the hi hats hid what you feel
When the boom of the bass led the chase
Out of the shadows of fate
Into a warmer embrace
Where loneliness holds no place
Looking into your eyes
Reflecting back the lies
You’ve told to help you hide
When the truth wouldn’t actualize
When that one song would play
When you’d close your eyes and sway
When you’d dream of better days
Where hopes would be willing to stay
In that new sensation of grace
Something new must take its place
Resonating in the mood of your growing face
Reminding you of what you’ve made
A brand new playlist
For a brand new race
Pursued with feverish haste
Scored by new hits
The strings play on
