The Wedding Reception.

I was the only,
I was the only,
I was the only -
ONE — (THUMP.)
At the wedding, (spoken softly)
surrounded by people,
I was the only one. (THUMP)
We sat — having quiet conversations, political observations and aberrations.
Absorbing the atmosphere,
We sat in a barn; the weather was fine.
It was the reception.
We were drinking fine French red wine, whiling away the time, waiting for the evening’s celebrations.
All was calm; I was in the zone…
