A poem on addiction

Something shiny caught my eye,
Felt I could not pass it by.
Picked the penny off the ground,
Found myself a bit spellbound.
Discovered quarters, dollar bills,
Each new finding brought new thrills.
Start to crave it, want for more,
Strip the couch and search the floor.
Look up from the ground and see,
Iron bars ensnaring me.
Saw something shiny; who could tell?
A penny was the price of Hell.

Thanks to Dr. Ming Way for inspiring me with a Tweet.
