Ultraviolet hopes

Unscathed by storm and smoke

Lurks until the burn

I was inspired to write this poem by the mesmerizing yet perilous nature of sunlight — reflecting the paradoxical states of our hopes and dreams. From a young age, I’ve always wanted to become a scientist. As I got older, the simple awestruck feeling I had while stargazing and staring down a microscope became riskier, as I experimented with recombinant DNA and production of chemicals. I wanted to convey this complex relationship with my passions and hopes that I had as an aspiring scientist.
