A Story Isn’t A Sermon
Writer Q&A with Simon Dillon
Author’s note: The Pro Files recently approached me for an emailed interview as part of its series of writer interviews. This is an unedited excerpt of everything writing-related that came out of the conversation. Interviewed by Ben Human.
What is on your writer’s CV?
I’m primarily a writer of fiction novels, mostly gothic mystery horror-thriller tales. Five of these are already published. Three of them (Spectre of Springwell Forest, The Irresistible Summons, and Phantom Audition) were traditionally published by US indie publisher Dragon Soul Press, but rights have now reverted to me. Today, they are self-published, alongside two other gothic mysteries, The Birds Began to Sing and The Thistlewood Curse.
I’ve also written and published various adventure novels broadly aimed at the Harry Potter/Alex Rider demographic, but they are aimed at adults too, so let’s say for the young and young at heart. Published titles (self-published) are Uncle Flynn, Dr Gribbles and the Beast of Blackthorn Lodge, The George Hughes Trilogy (comprising The Martian Inheritance, The Titan War, and The Neptune Conspiracy), and Echo and the White Howl.
