Tyme to fawke shytup

When a woman, your first wife, wants to leave, and your slate isn’t exactly clean, but she knows you love her, you don’t beg. Likewise, when someone resigns or fires you. And the same again when a peer and secret rival or executive or even a team member doesn’t know to respect you all by themselves, from learning about the world as a child or adult. Take a moment and ask yourself, what can possibly change between you when you do?

It was the same when I got my horse, a colt from out in Sunderland, my first. Damned if I would discipline or frighten him if he didn’t have it in him to listen to reason. I learned to rear him with the intention to learn to ride him now that I had come into a bit of money, and when I eventually rode him I found that jabbing my heels into his ribs came more or less naturally.

And didn't exactly like it, naturally, so I figured I'd just lean forward and put my hand down the side of his thrilling neck and chest and talk to him in different ways about what I wanted him to do. I figured anyone (which is what I call everything) could just learn the language you spoke from the way you spoke it. I am not a man who learned the ropes from my father, and I don't care.

It wasn’t an exact science. My last dog, a Rhodesian Ridgeback, wants me to be the alpha. I have no such…
