--

he wraps himself in the thin white sheets

as if I’ve never seen him bare before

as if I’ve never seen the freckle on his hip

the hair streaming

from the dip in his chest

the mole that hides in the depths

of his bellybutton

as if I’ve never discovered

that his skin is the softest

in the southern crevice of his spine

or that the hair marching

up his shin disappears

when it reaches his thighs

go then, I tell him.

unwrap yourself from your cocoon

and let me see you again

let me feel with my fingers

what my eyes have memorized
