he wraps himself in the thin white sheets
as if I’ve never seen him bare before
as if I’ve never seen the freckle on his hip
the hair streaming
from the dip in his chest
the mole that hides in the depths
of his bellybutton
as if I’ve never discovered
that his skin is the softest
in the southern crevice of his spine
or that the hair marching
up his shin disappears
when it reaches his thighs
go then, I tell him.
unwrap yourself from your cocoon
and let me see you again
let me feel with my fingers
what my eyes have memorized
