I’ll be honest… my end goal with writing is to have fun.
Right now I’m actually getting a little past my years-long writer’s block, about to write a several-paragraph blurb for a fanfic. Admittedly I write a bit out-of-order sometimes, but that’s besides the point here. The point is that I’m about to write the second blurb for this fic, however, the fic is nowhere near publishable as just blurbs… I need better work ethic with my writing
Part of what I’m hoping to get out of this class is a stronger foothold in the writing world, but also means to better my writing — not my actual writing, but, well, my writing work ethic. I’ve got ideas upon ideas, and these ideas lead themselves to stories of more novel-length variety. This means there’s a wide variety of scenes, and while I can imagine many of them in my head, writing them isn’t the easiest thing in the world.
I just find it easier to envision some scenes easier than others, and the more I envision a scene, the easier it is to write. Other factors can make it tougher for me to write a scene, such as not knowing certain details and not having the drive to research them.
Really, that’s the big issue with me — I don’t always have the drive to write. It’s gotten stronger lately, but it’s still weak. But the ideas in me just need a way out, and I know I enjoy writing to let these ideas out.
So yeah. My end goal with writing is to have fun, and to do that properly I need more drive to write — I need to improve my work ethic with writing. And that’s something I hope to get outta this class — not just ways to get a better foothold in the real world with a writing degree, but ways to get myself writing more often.
