Every one of us, on average, will be sleeping 24 years in our lifetime. That’s a pretty long time if you ask me it makes even more important to know exactly how the phenomenon of sleep impacts us.

We’ve been told to sleep for at least 8 hours, but is there any proof of that? Daniel Kripke, In his most recent study found that “people who sleep between 6.5 hr. and 7.5 hr. a night, live the longest, are happier and most productive”.

So how does this reflect to the corporate world

In the corporate world there’s a lot of stress, and coming home with a lot of stress — but not knowing how to manage it — can impact sleep and cause insomnia

We really need to be focusing on how can we manage our lifestyle to handle the stress which can help in improving our productivity. Going to bed early is one of the best solution as getting proper sleep at the correct time can be the best solution.

Relaxation Therapy

I think something else that is worth pointing out is relaxation therapy. Usually people relax in the wrong way, such as drinking a lot of alcohol. That’s actually a problem we have with corporate. Instead, I would recommend a ‘time out’ as something that’s massively important. So, that decision to go for a run and not take your phone with you, so no one on this planet can contact you by sending you a text, email, ring your mobile or bother you.

Given the corporate world doesn’t look like it will change dramatically any time soon, its important for us to learn how to manage our health and sleep patterns. It’s a combination of nutrition, exercise, psychology, sleep awareness and sleep management. In other words, improving lifestyle, modifying behavior, and accessing education.
