Welcome to this newsletter designed to help you express your unique motivation to write, produce more writing, and get published.

I’m always on the lookout for resources to help writers like you and me to become more productive and successful.

Here are seven writers with valuable, yet different perspectives on writing and publishing.

The two I am most familiar with are Joanna Penn and Joel Friedlander, but all offer advice, expertise, and eye-opening perspectives of writing and publishing.

When I finish this article, I’ll be digging into “A Newbie’s Guide to Publishing,” by J. A. Konrath, mentioned in my last entry of this post.

The Creative Penn

Joanna Penn, teaches “you how to write, publish and market your book — and make a living with your writing.” She’s the real deal.

The information here has helped guide thousands of authors just like you as they made their way through the publishing process.”

He has a large article archive and resources on every aspect of writing and publishing: Audiobooks; Author Blogging 101; Book Construction; Book Design, Printing, Production; Book Reviews; Cover Design; E-Books & Readers; Interior Design; and Legal Issues; Self-Publishing; Social Media; and, of course, Writing.

Dean Wesley Smith, Opinions and Writings

From his website: “Considered one of the most prolific writers working in modern fiction, USA Today bestselling writer, Dean Wesley Smith has published almost two hundred novels in forty years, and hundreds and hundreds of short stories across many genres.”

This prolific author shares what he knows, how he does it, and what’s in it for you.

Kristine Kathryn Rusch — Writer, Editor, Fan Girl

From her website: “New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Kristine Kathryn Rusch writes in almost every genre. Generally, she uses her real name (Rusch) for most of her writing. Under that name, she publishes bestselling science fiction and fantasy (including the Fey series, the Retrieval Artist series and the Diving series), award-winning mysteries, acclaimed mainstream fiction, controversial nonfiction, and the occasional romance.”

Russell Blake

Bestselling author, Russell Blake, shares fascinating posts about his books and much more. He also “created a new blog devoted to non-authorly things that can get one censored on big tech platforms where only official narratives are allowed.” He pulls no punches.

The Passive Voice — A Lawyer’s Thoughts on Authors, Self-Pub and Traditional Publishing

I look forward to his daily collection of interesting excerpts, links, and commentary on the world of writers, writing, and publishing. Plus, it helps to get a lawyer’s perspective on writing and publishing issues. It’s never boring.

A Newbie’s Guide to Publishing

Back in 2019, prolific author J. A. Konrath wrote a series of honest, helpful, and hard-hitting posts that comprise this free online guide. It’s a boatload of great advice and insights.
