In 2020, I published an article on Medium detailing how I made over $1,200,000 writing self-published novels on Amazon.

This article updates that first one.

From the graphic below, you can see that the figure is now up to $1,545,561 (as of August 20, 2024), for a nice little $345,561 gain since 2020. Although decent, this is actually a drop from my previous pace. I’ve been writing and publishing novels for 13 years, and my yearly royalties were much higher in the early days.

Then came Covid-19, which caused a slowdown in my sales. And to add salt to the wound, I followed that with a case of throat cancer, which took me a couple of years to fight before I was back to writing full-time. I still haven’t achieved my pre-Covid and cancer numbers, but I’m working back up to it.

Oh, and by the way, I’m 70 years old … and I just published my 70th novel.

But this article isn’t about that.

It’s about how YOU can make a living — and a fairly decent one — writing self-published novels.
