The Forbidden Interview
I had planned to do an interview with James Desborough about his new book, Inside Gamergate, on the 19th of August, but, about 4 hours before the stream was to start, and before there was any video at all to review, I was met with a community guidelines strike for this non-existent video, refreshing the livestream page to be met with this:
After clicking the “I Acknowledge” button and going to look at my creator studio page, I found this:
This was on a Saturday morning, and I sent an appeal. By Monday evening, the strike had been cleared and I was able to stream again, but I have to date received no explanation from YouTube.
I was interviewed about this on the 20th by Netscape, and you can see that interview here:
Thereafter, I tested my ability to livestream and talked a bit about all of this on my own channel as well, on the 21st, which you can see here:
It doesn’t show a thumbnail here, for some reason, but it should nevertheless be viewable.
My previously-postponed interview with the author and games designer Jim Desborough was hosted by Honey Badger Radio on the 28th of August, and I have mirrored that interview on my own channel, here:
Please check it out. I’m not sure what’s going on at YouTube, but something isn’t working as it should be, and it seems to be particularly broken on the weekends, or at least my observations suggest such.
