Although she’s not a declared candidate yet, Cathy Glasson (last name pronounced GLAW-s·n; interpunct denotes vowel sound pronounced like “ai” in “mountain”) has been actively exploring a potential bid for Governor of Iowa for quite some time, and I am delighted to announce that The Progressive Midwesterner is proudly endorsing Cathy Glasson (campaign website here) for the Democratic nomination for Governor of Iowa.

Most politicians in this country don’t talk about how ordinary people work multiple jobs and still have trouble making ends meet, Glasson talks about the struggles of ordinary Iowans. Glasson supports economic policies designed to lift Iowans out of poverty. For example, Glasson supports a $15/hour minimum wage, universal health care, and making it easier for workers to unionize and collectively bargain for better wages, benefits, and working conditions.

I encourage Iowa Democrats to vote to nominate Cathy Glasson for governor next year.
