SENATOR AMY KLOBUCHAR (D-MINN.) made her announcement that she was running for president on a cold, snowy day in Minneapolis beside the Mississippi River forging south. Covered in snow and surrounded by thousands of spectators, Klobuchar made her case to return to the common good of America, and shy away from the divisiveness of today.

Born and raised to a newspaperman and a school teacher, Klobuchar understands the middle-class and brings the issues of failing infrastructure, the opioid epidemic, and soaring drug prices to Washington.

Klobuchar’s campaign recently announced a bold, new plan to combat the United States’ crippling infrastructure. Unlike Trump’s plan for Infrastructure (which leaves necessary requirements up to lawmakers), Klobuchar’s plan has concrete proposals that will guarantee a revitalization of America’s infrastructure. Her plan isn’t to just build bridges and roads, it is to modernize the nation’s airports, expand public transportation, rebuild crippled schools, connect every household to the internet, build green and climate smart buildings, and ensure clean water for every American. These are just a sampling of the proposals Klobuchar has introduced, but they all reveal that her ideas will not just bring change to the heartland: it will bring change to America.

While these programs seem simply aspirant to many, Klobuchar has a proven track-record of getting things done. She was named the most effective Democrat in the Senate for the 115th Congress. In October, three of her bipartisan bills to combat the opioid crisis went to the President’s desk. Finally, she has built herself as the most bipartisan Senator in these hyper-partisan years.

Klobuchar has extensive, relevant appeal to the often forgotten working class and the youth of the Midwest and Northeast from her advocacy towards tackling soaring drug prices, and combating the opioid epidemic. She co-sponsored a bill which cracks down on health care providers and facilities from attempting to take advantage of the most vulnerable patients. This bill was passed and signed into the law by the President, even in these hyper-partisan years.

Klobuchar isn’t afraid to go into the lion’s den, or places where it is almost certain no one will agree with her. This is because, as a leader, she understands that she doesn’t just represent Democrats: she represents Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, Independents, and many more groups of individuals. She visits all 87 counties in Minnesota every year (not just election years), even counties where Republicans win by landslides. The very foundation of her job is to put the people first, not corporate giants or her own political aspirations. She is running for President because it is her moral responsibility to bring the power to all Americans, from Milwaukee to Seattle.

Klobuchar’s quick-wit and amiable appeal makes her one of the most electable and most underestimated candidates in the 2020 race. She has won her races for the Senate representing Minnesota by double-digit margins in an increasingly battleground state. Klobuchar doesn’t play politics with her teeth clenched and her back to everyone else; she plays with temperament, longevity, and down-to-earth philosophies that get things done.

As president, Klobuchar will not only represent the forgotten American Midwest and heartland, but will represent all of America because of her pragmatism, her bipartisanship, and her grit to build strong foundations for America’s tomorrow.
