Do you know your goblincore from your crystal core? Well today, with the help of some simple Midjourney prompts, we’re going to explore the ‘core’ prompt aesthetics’, and I’ve included a list of 44 cores to get you started with your own exploration.

What are Midjourney Prompt cores?

You might have stumbled upon terms ending in “core” like cabincore, kidcore, rainbowcore, and so on. Wondering what they mean?

These “core” terms hint at a specific aesthetic or vibe. Consider them as style descriptors. I haven’t found a comprehensive list of ‘core’ terms for Midjourney yet. From my experience, it appears that appending ‘core’ to nearly any aesthetic description works, and Midjourney does its best to interpret it.

To truly grasp this, it’s best to see how these ‘core’ terms influence an image.

Core Examples

In the following examples I have used a very simple prompt:

a flower, <core>

a flower, goblincore

So a flower, goblincore looks pretty odd, right? But what would happen if we had just used a flower, goblin?
