A question that came into my mind many times was can I post a single story to multiple publications? And I finally got time to search about it and got an answer for sure. I thought of sharing it with you people as well. But before sharing this thing with you let’s talk about writing in a publication.
What is a publication on medium?
The publication is a common space that is shared by multiple writers to write on a single theme or topic.
Why writing in the publication is necessary?
Writing in a publication allows writer to share their stories with more audiences. Because when you post a story in a publication it will be shared on your feed, your followers, and that publication’s followers as well. So, it will help you grow your story's read time and probability of gaining more followers as well.
How to write for publication?
First of all, you have to find publications as per your niche and then read their guidelines and request to be a writer.
Once you are selected by a publication as a writer you can post a story there, anytime.
How to post in a publication?
You have to write a story first. Then you have to click on the 3 dots.
Then click ‘Add to publication’ from a drop menu.
Then choose any publication from there and click ‘select and continue’
Now click on the submit button which appeared in the place of publish button.
And finally, add tags and submit your story.
After you submit a story to that publication. Wait for a couple of hours, that mediums owner will post your story after review.
Now let's come to the question, Can you post to multiple publications?
Well, the answer to this question is no. You can't post a single story to multiple publications. Because Medium does not allow duplication of content on the platform. Medium made a policy of posting a single story in one publication either from the same account or another account. If we go against the policies of medium then medium can take any action against us.
