So, it is not every day that you would be told about earning $100 from a single article, but yes it happened to me. Less than a month to generate this amount, no thanks to the right mixture of engaging content + smart distribution with interesting writing. And the best part? You can do the same!

This article will take you through how my story titled “10 Jupyter Notebook Features You Didn’t Know Existed” got to perform so well and how you can have the same thing.

1. Choosing a Niche Topic That Resonates

Jupyter Notebooks can be widely used by data scientists, machine learning engineers, and Python developers. However, many users tend to ignore or are even unaware of the hidden features that can save time and increase productivity. I saw an unmet need for increasing the discoverability of less often used features, in the tech community which I could capitalize on.

And so can you, because your expert space too will have specific knobs and whistles. Concentrate on actionable advice and focus your specific offerings on an audience who is desperate for just this sort of insight.

2. Engaging, Actionable Content is Key

I wrote the article in a way that is helpful to everyone and might take away one point from each person. The content on how to use magic commands or interactive widgets on Jupyter is more tailored around getting readers quick wins and so I kept them engaged, by showing them how.

You can do this in your writing. Regardless if the article is a technical tutorial, personal growth guide post, or lifestyle hack, make sure that readers can take action immediately.

3. Optimize for Readability and Shareability

I maintained the language so someone who is not a Python pro can read it correctly. I also included examples and made the information scannable — including headings, bullet points, and code snippets for when long text passages followed.

This increases the chance that people will read and forward your article. Feel free to use images, instances, or even applications of the content in real-world problems (if you have a technical post); it will make your content much more comprehensive.

4. Monetizing Your Work on Medium

I know what you’re thinking though… “how on earth did this make MONEY?” Answer: The Medium Partner Program which is a program by Medium where writers are paid according to the read time of your article from members on Medium. I got it published on The Pub, a popular Medium publication which in turn helped me to gain more viewers.

For those who are interested in earning from writing, sign up to the Medium Partner Program and submit your work to relevant publications such as The Pub. Writing for publications can help you reach more people and earn more.

5. The Power of Distribution

Viewing your article is one thing, but in the end — you need eyes on it. I promoted the piece post-publishing on social media and by seeding it in data communities. I took the time to comment and start discussions, therefore racking up even more views.

It turns out promoting your work doesn’t end once you hit “publish.” And you have to promote it actively in relevant networks and engage with its readers. By networking within your niche community, you could increase the reach and income of your article a great deal.

Conclusion: Start Writing Today!

You can make $100 with just one article (pair your passion to make actual value) This, along with clear, engaging writing will mean success.

Who knows your next article might be the one that helps you make all that money.
