Can I just peak inside? I want to see if anyone I know is here

Lately, I’ve been wondering about the afterlife, especially as each year ticks by with more haste than the year before. One of my thoughts has been about Heaven and if I should buy into an eternal timeshare in the sky or look for a more friendly and not-so-tough on my morality pocketbook.

I am positive that if I ask Saint Peter at the Pearly Gates if I could first just take a look around inside and see if any of my close pals were anywhere to be seen, he would say “You bet — take your time”.

Because if not, then I believe finding a better fit to spend my forever and ever years would be essential. The thought of being stuck in an awful place for eternity would be like being on an airplane with a crying kid — it sounds painful if you ask me.

I’ve heard that some of the people in Heaven can be a bit shady as well. I don’t believe just because a person is now in God’s private country club that it necessarily makes them a better person. Let’s face it, many sinners are getting into Heaven through the Catholic Confessional backdoor.

This, “Confess your mess — now come on in.” is simply not fair, but God allows it. I think the Almighty feels these folks are…
