I feel like Scarlett O’Hara in Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell (1936), when I try to ignore what’s happening in our country. She was busy planning parties, making ball gowns out of curtains, while Tara, her beloved plantation home, was burning to the ground, and the Civil War was raging.

Her attitude was best described by her famous quote Oh Fiddle-Dee-Dee. It was her way of showing defiance and denial in the face of danger.

I may feel like Scarlett O’Hara as I try to go about my normal routine right now, but I do not think like her.

I am not in denial, I am not planning parties and I've given up being defiant as I've seen my efforts go unnoticed.

I believe the takeover of America is in the works by President-elect Donald J. Trump and his MAGA devotees.

I am terrified for my kids and grandkids who will be living in America under this new administration.

Not everyone in this country sees it this way. The majority of our citizens bestowed the honor of their vote for Trump as President-elect, knowing full well he is a convicted felon. Hearing his hateful rhetoric and seeing his racist and misogynistic behavior did not deter them. They are celebrating his victory. They are not concerned…
