But is it true? Do dirty players lose? And do we really want to play a fair game?

Remember Board Games? Ones like CandyLand with all those bright colors, the sweet promise of victory if you just landed on the right square? Or perhaps Monopoly was more your jam — ruthlessly buying properties, bankrupting your friends, and feeling like a tiny real estate mogul.

These games were our first taste of how the world was supposed to work, you know:

  1. play by the rules,
  2. strategize, be smart
  3. make smart moves,
  4. and success would be yours.

But here’s the thing, the world often forgets to mention:

The whole playing field is kinda tilted.

The rules aren’t as clear as we were led to believe, and sometimes it feels suspiciously like someone loaded the dice. Playing an “unfair” game with unclear rules is the premise that my poem, “The Game”, in Who’s the Player sought to unpack.
