Wi-Fi here (not) — (Wiki comms)

I was staying in a holiday cottage with family over the summer when I asked if anyone knew the Wi-Fi code.

Everyone laughed. “Wi-Fi code?” they said. “Phil, that’s so last decade.”

I remembered another family holiday ten years ago when the promised Wi-Fi in the cottage we were staying in didn’t work.

There was almost a riot! My sister nearly had to be restrained from attacking the owner when she came around to try and rectify the problem.

Everyone was so angry that I wondered if I had missed something and perhaps the roof had blown off.

But no, there was just no Wi-Fi, which was almost classed as capital punishment back in 2014 when mobile data wasn’t as widespread.

In the end, to counter this Wi-Fi rage, the poor lady brought around a mobile router that her husband used for work, and everyone was happy. Finally able to squeeze a few drops of data from the white Hitachi box that sat on the coffee table like Buddha.

Fast forward ten years, and that wild rage and almost act of wanton violence seems to have been in vain.
