Remember when writing online meant earning real money? When platforms valued writers enough to pay them fairly?

Medium has been tweaking their earnings system, all while payouts have been plummeting. They keep promising it will all work out in the long run. But each time, writers get the short end of the stick.

I’m tired of waiting for change that may never come. That’s why I built Koala Quill — a platform where you can earn $0.25 per read. Both internal and external views pay the same amount. If just 10 people read long enough to see an ad, that’s $2.50 in your pocket — way more than you’d get from significantly more views on Medium.

To be eligible for monetization, you must have spent at least 20 minutes actively typing in the editor. This is to prevent low effort cash grabs and AI-generated garbage.

Fair warning — the generous $0.25 per read won’t last forever, but I promise it will continue at least until the end of March. As my platform grows, I’ll do everything within my power to make sure Koala Quill is a place where you can earn a fair wage for your words.
