New on Public: The cheapest way to trade options

Public members can now trade options and earn 50% of our options revenue with every trade.

Today, with the launch of options trading, we’re excited to share that we’re doing something no other investing platform has done before: we’re sharing 50% of our options trading revenue directly with our members.

In other words, Public is officially the cheapest way to trade options.

Why are we doing this? We believe in the importance of transparency. We think our members should know exactly what things cost and what our incentives are as a company. We’ve also worked hard since we started Public to bring more transparency to the financial market overall.

Sharing 50% of our options revenue means that our members will know exactly how much we earn from every options trade because we’re sharing half of it. The amount that we earn from every transaction is exactly how much the customer earns as well.

Until March 31st, members can lock in their lifetime 50% rebate by activating options trading on Public. Following March 31st, we plan to offer a tiered options rebate that members can earn via referrals.

Transparency, and the lowest cost. Period.

Options trading has always been one of our most-requested features. We took our time adding it to Public because we wanted to spend time figuring out how to build an options trading product that put our members first at every step of the trading process — from suitability and education to order execution and costs.

Sharing our options revenue is an industry first, but it’s not the only way we approach options trading differently.

Education

We’ve built our platform with an options resource center featuring a complete library of guides to every options trading strategy and foundational terminology. Investors can brush up on their options trading knowledge or dive into more sophisticated strategies directly within the app, without having to navigate to a separate webpage or glossary. We’ve also designed a specific “education mode” for newer options traders, automatically surfacing relevant video content and written commentary throughout the trading process.

Suitability

Options trading carries additional risk and isn’t suitable for all investors. With that, we believe that offering options trading to our members comes with the responsibility for us at Public to ensure our members are granted the right level of trading access. That’s why we’ve hand-built our options onboarding process to ensure each Public member is thoroughly vetted and awarded the right level of options trading access based on their experience and suitability.

Discoverability

We’ve created a central options hub for investors to explore the most actively traded options contracts, track earnings dates directly on the options chain, or build an options strategy from scratch based on their unique outlook and visualize potential profit and loss scenarios before making trades. With this feature, we aim to provide our members with the data points and visibility they need to make confident investment decisions.

We believe we’ve created the most modern yet sophisticated options trading platform on the market, and we’re excited to share it with members. This is just the beginning of options trading on Public, and we’re looking forward to continuing to add additional strategies, feature functionality, and more.
