Welcoming Prashant Yerramalli as VP of Operations and Regulation
Today, we’re excited to welcome Prashant Yerramalli to Public as VP of Operations and Regulation!
Prashant has deep experience in the financial services industry, working across multiple organizations, including Brookfield Asset Management, Jenner & Block, and WilmerHale. Most recently, he spent the last two years serving as Chief of Staff and Counselor to Chair Gary Gensler and worked with the Chair on all aspects of the agency’s mission, from rulemaking and policy, enforcement, strategy, personnel, management, operations, communications, and legislative affairs.
Over the last year, we have seen retail investing continue to shift as more investors diversify their portfolios and adjust their strategies in a changing macroeconomic environment. As we continue to build the business at Public and offer new products and services for retail investors, it is imperative that we operate in the appropriate regulatory framework. Since the beginning of the year, we have seen retail investors take an interest in US Treasury bills to diversify their portfolio, and under Prashant’s leadership, we will continue to create new fixed-income products.
After working in the industry for the last 10+ years, and working through the “meme stock phenomenon,” he saw it as a moment of increased participation and engagement in the public markets. Throughout history, capital markets have been a transformative way to improve people’s financial future. Joining Public, Prashant sees an opportunity to help investors have more context around their portfolios and introduce the next generation of investors to the capital markets.
