Fans Dig The Long Ball: 21–40

The 2017 Grand Junction Rockies not only set a team record for home runs in a season but a Pioneer League record as well. The previous league record was held by the 2011 Billings Mustangs who hit 97. This season, the Rockies hit 115 home runs in 76 games. We’ll take a look at each home run and how the team reached 115. In this installment, we look at 21–40.

Home Run #21: Game 16 on July 4th against the Orem Owlz. In the bottom of the first inning on a 1–0 count, second baseman Shael Mendoza hit a solo home run to left field.

Home Run #22: Game 16 on July 4th against the Orem Owlz. In the bottom of the fourth inning on a 3–1 count, third baseman Todd Czinege hit a three-run home run to center field.

Home Run #23: Game 17 on July 5th against the Orem Owlz. In the bottom of the eighth inning on a 1–0 count, second baseman Shael Mendoza hit a two-run home run to center field.

Home Run #24: Game 19 on July 7th against the Orem Owlz. In the bottom of the sixth inning on an 0–1 count, first baseman Chad Spanberger hit a three-run home run to right field.

Home Run #25: Game 19 on July 7th against the Orem Owlz. In the bottom of the seventh inning on a 2–1 count, outfielder Ramon Marcelino hit a three-run home run to right field.

Home Run #26: Game 20 on July 8th against the Ogden Raptors. In the bottom of the first with an 0–1 count, shortstop Ryan Vilade hit a two-run home run to left field.

Home Run #27: Game 20 on July 8th against the Ogden Raptors. In the bottom of the first with a 1–1 count, outfielder Casey Golden hit a two-run home run to left center field.

Home Run #28: Game 20 on July 8th against the Ogden Raptors. In the bottom of the fourth inning on the first pitch of the at-bat, third baseman Alan Trejo hit a two-run home run to right field.

Home Run #29: Game 20 on July 8th against the Ogden Raptors. In the bottom of the fifth inning on the first pitch of the at-bat, first baseman Chad Spanberger hit a solo home run to right center field.

Home Run #30: Game 20 on July 8th against the Ogden Raptors. In the bottom of the eighth inning on a 1–0 count, outfielder Ramon Marcelino hit a solo home run to right field.

Home Run #31: Game 21 on July 9th against the Ogden Raptors. In the bottom of the seventh inning on a 1–0 count, shortstop Ryan Vilade hit a solo home run to right center field.

Home Run #32: Game 22 on July 10th against the Ogden Raptors. In the bottom of the fifth inning on a 2–2 count, outfielder Casey Golden hit a solo home run to left field.

Home Run #33: Game 23 on July 12th at the Billings Mustangs. In the top of the first inning on a1–2 count, outfielder Casey Golden hit a three-run home run to left field.

Home Run #34: Game 23 on July 12th at the Billings Mustangs. In the top of the second inning on a 1–0 count, second baseman Shael Mendoza hit a solo home run to right field.

Home Run #35: Game 23 on July 12th at the Billings Mustangs. In the top of the third inning on a 2–2 count, outfielder Casey Golden hit a two-run home run to left center field.

Home Run #36: Game 25 on July 14th at the Billings Mustangs. In the top of the seventh inning on a 3–2 count, shortstop Alan Trejo hit a solo home run to left field.

Home Run #37: Game 26 on July 15th at the Great Falls Voyagers. In the top of the sixth inning on the first pitch of the at-bat, third baseman Todd Czinege hit a three-run home run to center field.

Home Run #38: Game 26 on July 15th at the Great Falls Voyagers. In the top of the sixth inning on a 1–2 count, outfielder Ramon Marcelino hit a solo home run to right field.

Home Run #39: Game 28 on July 17th at the Great Falls Voyagers. In the top of the first inning on a 2–2 count, first baseman Chad Spanberger hit a two-run home run to right field.

Home Run #40: Game 28 on July 17th at the Great Falls Voyagers. In the top of the fourth inning on a 2–0 count, shortstop Ryan Vilade hit a solo home run to left field.
