The Quest Kick-Off
I needed something to challenge myself.
Every time I want to learn something I search on the internet and it usually has the quickest and shortest answer for the question of the moment. But sometimes there’s a topic that really gets me and makes me want to build knowledge around it and start from the very beginning.
In the past, I fell in love with work-related topics like business management, programming and project management, but also themes that can truly d make great hobbies — sailing, poker and barbecuing.
For the most of these subjects I recurred to the For Dummies® books. It just made sense if I was a dummy in a given topic that somebody else would deconstruct the big picture and feed me small, well-though, chronologically-organized, historically-fiable and validated pieces of knowledge.
So, few days ago I was wondering what kind of hobby could I have that could fulfill my insatiable curiosity and that would be a great challenge to keep me focused and motivated.
I could read ALL the For Dummies® books!! And that could even mean a Guinness World Record!! — I thought
Well, that was one of those crazy moments when I’m are laying in my bed trying to give my body a rest but my brain just keeps pumping upstairs with megalomaniac projects.
Usually, at that intermediate state between being awake and sleeping, he (my brain) can’t get me to do nothing. “It’s time to sleep, my friend, deal with it…”
And… Here I am, kicking-off this crazy thing.
I didn’t really put much thought into it, I bet any of this makes sense to anyone, just wanted to take the first step because it is the most difficult one and figure the rest out along the way.
Building a dedicated page and twitter it’s purely for:
- Keeping track of progress — This will motivate me to look back and realize the effort already putted into this.
- Accountability — Knowing that other people are following the journey, will make me want to keep going further and enjoy the ride while…
- Sharing —Because iIt’s fun to onboard and meet other people that perhaps have similar interests or are embracing a project themselves.
I’m thrilled to start this expedition.
