Rishabh Pandey, General Secretary, SnTC

Science and Technology Council (SnTC)

“I am humbled and also feel privileged to have been selected as the General Secretary of Science and Technology Council (SnTC). Starting from the first year, I have been involved with the council first as a participant and then as the secretary of a club. Apart from being the platform where all science and tech enthusiasts learn and practice various skills, I think SnTC has a lot to offer to its members and the institute as a whole. Taking this point in mind, we will be moving towards becoming a more project-oriented and result oriented Council. Our main aim in the upcoming session would be to increase intra-council and inter-club activities to improve the collaborative works. This will not only build the culture of solving multi-disciplinary problems requiring two or more clubs but also help us prepare better for big competitions such as Inter-IIT Tech Meet. We look forward to participate in national and international events so as to get exposure of the current scenario in tech world. We are idea-specific. We would love to have the members come up with ideas, increase their participation and help us grow bigger.”

Cultural Council

“Cultural Council, undoubtedly is one of the most active and captivating council for the student body. Being the General Secretary of this council is a matter of honour as there is a legacy which I have to continue. I have to ensure that people associated with the 7 clubs can practice their art without any other consideration. I believe each club should have a space to practice their art in a carefree manner, and keep their instruments and other belongings and come in regularly. There can be a lot of PG and PhD students who have great knowledge of a variety of art forms, yet we are not able to provide them a platform for them to practice. This year the council’s prime focus would be to secure a position in the top three at the Inter IIT Cult Meet. A club grows when it gets the exposure of outstation fests and funds must be allocated for more representation. Lastly, since it’s a council, I would also like to build a new platform for inter-council collaborations which would definitely encourage students to explore new and innovative ideas.”

Lakshya Anand, General Secretary, Games and Sports Council

Games and Sports Council

“Games and Sports Council is one of the strongest pillars of our college. Despite a remarkable improvement in the Inter IIT Sports Meet 2017, I believe we can outperform ourselves to a much greater extent. Construction of multi-purpose indoor sports complex is going to be the primary focus of the coming session. I am aware of our proposal for conducting Inter IIT Sports Meet 2020–21. I want that event to be a huge success and I am willing to go an extra mile to make it happen. We have neither equipment nor facility of Gymnastics and Billiards in our college and that would be given great attention. Low points in Aquatics Meet, which is due to the unavailability of our own swimming pool needs to be addressed. We need to bring more participation from the college and extend the practice time in the swimming pool. A little more can be done to enhance the interaction between the Gymkhana and sports members. Better outcomes can be expected when there is increased communication, feedback and interaction within the council.”

Ankur Goel, General Secretary, Film and Media Council

Film and Media Council

“Having been the Jt. Secy of Animation Club in 2nd year, I find added pressure and work now but I am fortunate that I have seniors who have helped me greatly in this transition. Following are the task or goals in which I will be leading the council in the coming session.

Foremost is to increase the presence of various clubs on social media. We are planning to create a dedicated website to showcase our work. To give exposure to members, participation in outstation events will be increased. It’s obvious that we have our eyes at top spot at Inter IIT and surely will give our 100% effort in achieving it. Workshop by professionals throughout the year for skill development of students will be organised. Starting out new ventures in collaboration with different clubs will be my mantra to carry forward the legacy bestowed upon me.”

Abhay Joshi, General Secretary, Social Service Council

Social Service Council

“The council will mainly work on two dimensions in the upcoming session. First is to increase the effectiveness of the social work which is undertaken by the council, 2nd to organise events for the skill development of students. We’ll continue to identify different sites which require aid for education and basic amenities. Increasing the frequency of events and scaling up of current events like Gram Mela and Social Enclave will be done. ‎We have decided to strengthen the structure of clubs to make them at par with Kashi Utkarsh, a well-established club. Running various projects and camps which have direct impact on social issues is necessary.

On a side note, I want to talk about wrong perception among people regarding social service. Most people think social service is similar to merely donating something, which is completely wrong. I believe that until you have tried yourself, you can’t understand the vastness, impact and satisfaction of social work.”
