Psalm 10 — Why Have You Forsaken Me?

A Kyrielle

Where are you, Lord, in times of trial?
Why do You hide Your face from me?
I would give much if You would smile.
Oh why have You forsaken me?

My enemies exult in greed
And prosper in iniquity.
Oh Lord, why am I still in need?
Oh why have You forsaken me?

They say that I am blemished, flawed,
Defective, wrong, and unhealthy,
But it was You Who made me, God.
Oh why have You forsaken me?

God, You have seen my pain and grief:
I’m begging You on bended knee,
Come near to me and bring relief.
Oh why have You forsaken me?

Esther learned to read when she was four years old, and began writing shortly thereafter. She is a queer Christian poet, crafting with words to create art and music.
