An English sonnet

Oh Lord, who may abide within Your tent,
To live upon Your mountain, God, with You?
The one who never has the truth e’er bent,
Who does what’s right and never is untrue,
Who casts no smear or slur upon another,
Who keeps a promise even when it hurts,
Who sees us all as siblings, none as “other”,
And won’t betray the weaker to a curse.
But to the ones who turned away the stranger,
And gave no help to anyone in need,
It is your soul, not theirs, that is in danger
For God does not condone your grasping greed.
But those who love the world with heart and soul
Will live forever, heirs to all the whole.

Esther learned to read when she was four years old, and began writing shortly thereafter. She is a queer Christian poet, crafting with words to create art and music.
