Psalm 18 — You are the Storm

An English Sonnet

You are my rock, my strength, and my safe place;
When I am overwhelmed, I call to You,
And in the darkness I can see Your face,
The clouds that parted heaven and broke through.
When thunder, lightning, hail is all I see,
You are the storm; You are the pounding rain,
And when th’inferno is surrounding me,
You are the fire nothing can constrain.
And when the earth beneath me moves and shakes
You are the quake. You are the soft twilight;
You are the dawn, the sunlight when I wake;
You cloak Yourself in stars and darkest night;
You are the roar of oceans, song of spheres;
You are the still, small voice within my ear.

Esther learned to read when she was four years old, and began writing shortly thereafter. She is a queer Christian poet, crafting with words to create art and music.
