Psalm 19 — Sweeter Than Honey

An English Sonnet

In the heavens, God has pitched a tent
For the sun. And in the morning, he
Rises like a bridegroom on th’advent
Of the day he weds his bride-to-be.
All the earth is his beloved bride,
And nothing is deprived of his ardour.
He smiles upon the world with loving pride
For every one of us he does adore.
From dawn to dusk we feel his warming glow,
Then he retires to his tent at night,
But we are not abandoned here below:
The moon gives a reflection of his light.
More precious than a golden wedding band;
Sweeter than honey is our bridegroom’s hand.

Esther learned to read when she was four years old, and began writing shortly thereafter. She is a queer Christian poet, crafting with words to create art and music.
