Psalm 2: Kiss the Son

Why do you rebuke and scold
The sacred, holy child of God?
Or don’t you know that we are gold?

You fear what cannot be controlled
And claim that proves that we are flawed.
Oh, why do you rebuke and scold?

We laugh at you trying to hold
The whole of God, so deep and broad.
Oh, don’t you know that we are gold?

We are ourselves, so brave and bold
And you are but a slick façade.
Oh, why do you rebuke and scold?

The half has not yet close been told
Of God, and somehow you’re not awed.
Don’t you know that we are gold?

See us! Hear us! Now, behold
The saints you tried to have outlawed.
Oh, why do you rebuke and scold?
Don’t you know that we are gold?

Esther learned to read when she was four years old, and began writing shortly thereafter. She is a queer Christian poet, crafting with words to create art and music.
