Psalm 20 — A Golden Star

An English sonnet

--

May the Lord defend you in the night,
Shield you from the dangers all around.
They will fall while we still stand upright;
God has set our feet on solid ground.
Some may trust in horses, guns, and walls;
I will trust the Lord our God instead.
When it all eventually falls,
I will not have cause for pain or dread.
May the Lord provide your heart’s desire,
Grant you every plea and every prayer.
Raise your flags and banners ever higher;
Sing your songs of courage if you dare.
Tell the world that you are who you are
For you are a blazing, golden star.

Esther learned to read when she was four years old, and began writing shortly thereafter. She is a queer Christian poet, crafting with words to create art and music.
