Psalm 28 — I Cry to You

An English Sonnet

To those who sweet talk hollow words of peace,
Then turn and stab their neighbour in the back,
Who reach and grab for more and more increase,
And sneer at those who find themselves in lack,
God, give to them according to their deeds
And grant to them the wages they deserve.
When they profess Your name but scorn the needs
Of those You call your followers to serve,
Oh blessed be the Lord Who hears my cry!
Oh God, I know You hear me when I pray,
I know I am the apple of Your eye,
And I rejoice at dawn of each new day,
For You have saved my soul, my hurts You healed;
You are my strength, my song; You are my shield.

Esther learned to read when she was four years old, and began writing shortly thereafter. She is a queer Christian poet, crafting with words to create art and music.
