The Lord will strengthen those who help the needy,
Deliver, bless, preserve the generous,
Protect me from the evil and greedy.
In You, O Lord, I’ll ever put my trust
For You are merciful and stand with me
When those I thought were friends turn enemy;
They claim Your Name but stand for cruelty
They fall for every lie and say they’re free.
But You are God and You will not be mocked
And You are love and love is love is love.
They think You’re with them, and they will be shocked
That they have no support from up above.
It is the rich and strong who need to fear,
For You are with the poor, the weak, the queer.

Esther learned to read when she was four years old, and began writing shortly thereafter. She is a queer Christian poet, crafting with words to create art and music.
