Psalm 44 — Remember Us

A ship on a stormy sea, tossed in a storm.

Awake, O Lord! Why do You sleep?
Do You not care that we are doomed?
Yet by Your Name we are consumed,
Corralled and slaughtered just like sheep.

Why do You hide?
Have You forgotten us?
Arise, O Lord!
Remember us,
Rebuke the wind and sea:
“Peace. Be still.”

Redeem us, Lord, and heal our wounds:
We wait upon You, and we weep
For lives that have been spent so cheap;
Oh lead us, Lord, out of the tomb.

My shame has covered me
With the shadow of death.
They say I am sin
And love is hateful.
I am bowed down to the dust:
Do not cast us off!

Ergiti in nostro aiuto,
Liberaci nella tua bontà.
