Oh, that I were elegant,
A princess glorious,
To captivate the mighty king,
A man victorious.

Your lips anointed with pray’r and grace;
My heart is stirred for you.
I recite a song of praise,
A psalm of love for you.

God has blessed you, mighty one,
Clothed in majesty.
You stand for justice and for truth;
You thwart the enemy.

Oh, that I could be your queen,
Clothed in golden gown,
Brought before your noble throne,
There to wear your crown.

Your lips anointed with pray’r and grace;
My heart is stirred for you.
I recite a song of praise,
A psalm of love for you.

I will be your poet bard
And sing of your great deeds,
To stand beside you come what may,
To do whate’er you need.

Your lips are not for me although
My heart belongs to you.
