Psalm 50 — The Fire and the Storm

--

A Ballad

Lightning strikes a tree, lighting it up with fire.

You thought that I was just like you
And would endorse your view.
What right have you to speak My words?
You haven’t got a clue.

Expel My promise from your mouth
And cast My vow away.
Because you hate instruction true
It’s fruitless when you pray.

You speak against your brother and
Your tongue designs deceit.
You found a thief and ran with him;
You boasted in your cheats.

You thought that I was just like you
And would endorse your view.
What right have you to speak My words?
You haven’t got a clue.

You have forgotten Who I Am:
The Fire and the Storm;
From sunrise to its going down,
I will not be scorned.

I see it all, each thought, each deed,
Each hateful word you speak,
And I rebuke your cruelty,
The way you treat the weak.
