Psalm 66 — As Silver

A Kyrielle

We suffered flame and went through tears,
Distilled and scalded, scorched and washed,
Disgraced and made to face our fears,
Refined as silver, pure and true.

You brought us through the forge’s flames
Where we were tested, purified;
You gave us new, perfected names:
Refined as silver, pure and true.

You laid abundance out for me,
And I will give my vows to You;
You heard me and You made me free:
Refined as silver, pure and true.

Esther learned to read when she was four years old, and began writing shortly thereafter. She is a queer Christian poet, crafting with words to create art and music.
