A Ballad

My harp will sing of You, my God:
No one’s akin to You.
God, You surround me, comfort me;
You draw me near to You.

In You alone I put my trust,
For You will never shame.
You are my rock, my strength, my home;
I rest upon Your Name.

Forever I will hope in You
For You will keep me near.
Though enemies are all around,
With You, I need not fear.

My harp will sing of You, my God:
No one’s akin to You.
God, You surround me, comfort me;
You draw me near to You.

All those who seek my hurt will fail
And founder and fall flat,
For they will trip on their own snares,
Fall into their own trap.

They call upon Your Name, oh Lord,
To authorise their spite;
But they are cruel and You are kind:
In them You won’t delight.
