Psalm 74 — The Day is Yours

A Ballad

--

A geyser bursting up from the ground. Steam clouds all around the water.

The enemy is in Your House,
Destroying everything.
They set their axes to the roots,
And they defile Your spring.

They hang their banners on Your walls,
And raise their voices high.
They kill Your prophets, sway Your priests;
Your mandates they deny.

The day is Yours; the night is Yours
You made the moon and sun.
You set the borders of the earth
So I may praise Your Name.

And You unleash the fountains deep,
Release the river’s might,
Divide the sea to right and left,
And call upon the light.

They hide their deeds in darkened haunts,
Pretending they are lambs.
But violence and cruelty
And blood is on their hands.

The day is Yours; the night is Yours
You made the moon and sun.
You set the borders of the earth
So I may praise Your Name.
