Psalm 76 — Who May Stand in Your Presence?

A La’libertas Poem

--

An angel in a white robe with spread white wings holding a sword stands on a path in a field with a storm raging in the background.

God, You, Yourself, are to be feared
And, in Your presence, who may stand
When they have made You angry and
With justice and with wrath You gird?

The insolent
Have fallen asleep,
And while they doze,
They will be plundered.
Your Name is great;
You broke their arrows.

You stand for those who have been banned,
Defend the names that have been smeared,
Preserve those erased, disappeared,
And cut off princes who were grand.

You are awesome,
Fearful,
Glorious, Oh God.
Let all bring gifts
Before Your throne,
For You deliver the abused.

Tu es redoutable, ô toi!
Qui peut te résister, quand ta colère éclate?

Esther learned to read when she was four years old, and began writing shortly thereafter. She is a queer Christian poet, crafting with words to create art and music.
