Psalm 78 — Riddles of Old

Remember the riddles of old,
The proverbs and sayings bygone;
Our stories must ever be told,
In fables, in myths, and in songs.

Our forebears have shown us the way,
Instructed us how to be strong;
We recall tomorrow today
In fables, in myths, and in songs.

When we were pariah to all,
We defied conclusions foregone;
Remember our acts, large and small,
In fables, in myths, and in songs.

The battle’s not over by far
And we will rise up: We belong.
We raise up our voices; we roar
Our fables, our myths, and our songs.

Esther learned to read when she was four years old, and began writing shortly thereafter. She is a queer Christian poet, crafting with words to create art and music.
