Psalm 86 — Something Good

A Ballad

--

A woman in profile stands before a tree with the sun filtering through the leaves. She has her eyes closed and her hands folded in front of her chin.

Show me something good, oh God;
Let those who hate me be ashamed.

In my day of sorrow, God,
I will call on You;
Hear my prayer; notice me,
For You are good and true.

Rejoice and glorify my soul
For You alone are God.
Unite my heart to praise Your Name;
I stand before You awed.

Show me something good, oh God;
Let those who hate me be ashamed.

A pompous mob has risen up;
They seek to wipe me out,
But You are gentle, patient, kind:
With You I will be proud.

God, turn and have mercy on me,
And let me be reclaimed.
Show me something good, oh God;
Let those who hate me be ashamed.

Esther learned to read when she was four years old, and began writing shortly thereafter. She is a queer Christian poet, crafting with words to create art and music.
