A Kyrielle

--

One man has his head on another man’s shoulder. They both look upset, possibly crying.

I am adrift among the dead;
Oh God, please listen to my cry:
My courage, health, and strength has fled;
Oh God, will You remember me?

Oh, let my prayer come to You;
My soul is full of misery
For what I cannot live up to.
Oh God, will You remember me?

I am abomination, shame
To those I used to count as friends,
Yet I still call me by Your Name.
Oh God, will You remember me?

Will You work wonders in the grave,
Show mercy, grace unto the dead?
I’m overwhelmed by raging waves.
Oh God, will You remember me?

I am shut up; I can’t get out;
I waste away in secrecy.
Release me, help me to come out.
Oh God, will You remember me?
