Psalm 9 — Arise, Oh Lord

Consider those who hate me, Lord,
While claiming that they follow You:
They speak of love but wield the sword.
Have mercy, Lord. You know I’m true.

They fall into the pit they dug,
And trap themselves in their own net,
They call Your Name in vain, so smug.
Have mercy, Lord. I praise You yet.

They say that You are on their side
And I am lost, cast to the grave
While ‘neath Your wings I still abide.
Have mercy, Lord, for You will save.

You are my refuge, my safe place;
In Your salvation I rejoice;
I revel in Your love and grace.
Have mercy, Lord. Oh, hear my voice.

Arise, Oh Lord. They’ll not prevail
For You are God and they are not.
Their hateful schemes will fall and fail.
Have mercy, Lord, for they will not.

Esther learned to read when she was four years old, and began writing shortly thereafter. She is a queer Christian poet, crafting with words to create art and music.
