Psalm 97 — A Prophecy in Fire

A Ballad

--

A winged man stands on a rock in an inlet by the water. Flames rise from one of his hands toward the clouds.

Clouds and shadows cloak You, Lord,
And fire prophesies,
Consuming all Your enemies,
And lighting up the skies.

The mountains melt like wax for You;
The firmament reveals
Your glory and Your righteousness
Amidst the thunder peals.

Let those who bow to idols fall,
Let them be put to shame
Who boast of strength of arms and hate
While conjuring Your Name.

Clouds and shadows cloak You, Lord,
And fire prophesies,
Consuming all Your enemies,
And lighting up the skies.

Deliver us out of their hand,
Preserve our souls, Oh God,
And forge our swords into ploughshares,
That we might turn the sod.

Then we will sow the light so pure,
And we will reap Your grace;
We will rejoice in Your mercy,
And we will see Your face.
