It only took accessing a single news website to spark an idea in the mind of one over-paid, under-worked local council bureaucrat of a new revenue stream, one nearly as annoying as having militant parking rangers marching up and down the foreshore parking bays all day and night.

Bayside Council, which has jurisdiction over the popular Templeton Beach, famous for its sunsets and the legions of tanned, leathery old people with nothing else to do but lying on its sand, has today announced that visitors will only be able to view three free sunsets a month. The rest will have to be purchased through a subscription plan of $10 a month.

Those that are up in arms about the policy went straight onto Twitter to vent their frustrations at the council, rather than doing something more meaningful like picketing the council chambers, or crucifying the mayor atop a rocky hill for all the see.

But there are those that have merely shrugged at the prospect of paying a subscription to see the gassy giant roll off the horizon for more than three days a month.

Local tradesman, Billy Reem, said, “I pay a subscription for Spotify, for my weekly food, for the gym, porn, even the razors for shaving. It’s only one more sub.”

To get the ball rolling, Bayside Council have started with a visit-all-you-want month, before applying the subscription model.
