Summer to Autumn

I
Seasons often seem inert
But change they do, which hurts
When you leave for the day
And instantly bray
At the cold through a thin shirt
II
Shivering like being hit by ripples
Even as you clutch your latte, triple
Making a quick run
Back to that sliver of sun
Outward stick your poor nipples
III
It’s time to bare it all again
In front of children, women, men
From peak coverage
To a total lack of foliage
The tree prepares for flocks of winter wren
